Spare tire mounting bar
Any one got a photo of the spare tire mounting bar? The one that goes under the rear of a 1965 Suburban.

Re: Spare tire mounting bar
Still looking for photos of the under frame spare mounting bar and hardware.

Re: Spare tire mounting bar
Is it different than the pickup one?

Re: Spare tire mounting bar
I think it is the same as the pickup. The one from my Suburban was not there when I purchased it. So I am looking for some photos of how it mounts and what it looks like. Thanks

They aren't great pics, but this is what was on my 63 when I bought it. I've since removed it to go with a chain style hoist from a 90s Nissan pickup. I had to change because the spare tire I chose was too wide for the original carrier.
The factory has a long bolt on each side. One bolt has a special nut that helps hold up the piece that goes under the tire. If you do a search over in the parts section of the board, you will be able to see some better pictures of it. |

Here is what I had under my 1961 Suburban, albeit a bit warped. I'm don't recall how it mounted up and I only have the one bolt/nut combo

Re: Spare tire mounting bar
Super thanks for taking the time and posting the photos. How wide and deep it the bar? From the photos I can fab up a new bar that looks reasonably close to factory.

Re: Spare tire mounting bar
It is 1 1/4" deep in the middle and 2 1/2" wide and curved a bit and the plate is 6 1/4"x 6 1/2"
