I am detailing a 1966 Chevy 327 engine and engine bay. What color were the spark plug wire looms? Thank you

Re: color of wire loom brackets
I couldnt tell on the Lambrecht reference thread. But looking at a pics from a wire loom bracket search I'd say non painted metal and dipped rubber where the wires are held - https://www.google.com/search?q=wire...w=1535&bih=690

Re: color of wire loom brackets
They were green like the rest of the engine. These engines were assembled at the Flint engine plant "basically" complete . So when they were painted , everything was engine color. In the one picture link I posted below it mentions "Miscellaneous Brackets" along with the engine assembly procedure for Flint and Tonawanda . Its also shows at what step in assembly it was painted. The other picture shows a green 327 bracket.

Re: color of wire loom brackets
Thank you guys so, so much. This is truly the best old car/truck forum I have ever been a part of. And thank you so much for all the wonderful links. I do now know they were painted the block color. From my research 66 was the first year Chevy used the 327 in trucks. Depending on what site or who you talk to the color was alpine green, others say Detroit Diesel green. Eastwood has both covered as I just bought two cans of engine paint in "Detroit Diesel Alpine green", great marketing huh? Also I have been tumbling the nuts and bolts, small parts and the brackets, when degreased and tumbled do show evidence of green.
Well thanks again and stand by for my next question. |

60-66,
Thanks for the engine and engine color information/knowledge, and references. Agree reference of the 1966 327 Custom Camper truck build thread is outstanding. Your 1964 truck with COPO 327 engine is also a great reference, forgot the link. |

Re: color of wire loom brackets
Hey guys, the Eastwood paint arrived and I have been applying it to various parts. I wanted to compare it to the original as some were skeptical . I totally cleaned up and shined one valve cover and painted the other. While colors are not an exact science with me, my wife is an artist and quite good. She says it is spot on. I believe Eastwoods research people had seen or heard about the foam green color dilemma for years and developed a great product for us. Well just wanted you to know. Thanks again for all your help and wonderful links.
