Tank relocation '72
Morning guys. Been awhile since Ive been on the boards, but Im back to making progress on my 72.
My truck was equipped with the incab fuel tank but Id like to relocate the fuel tank to the rear of the truck. It use to be a LWB, but I chopped frame/bed and turned her into a SWB. Anyone have some pics of there relocation and preference on location of fill neck? Thanks guys. |

Just reaching back out to see if anyone had some input.
Thanks |

I have a 70 short bed. I put a poly blazer tank where the spare tire was. It has worked well

I went with the Boyd's Welding tank and am working on install next week. My truck is a factory short bed so it should fit perfectly. I also chose the side fill. I'm planning on welding in a modern side fill door. I'll have to post a photo when I get done.

Got any pics you can send? Any fab work needed? Not that that would be a problem, just assessing situation. Thanks |

I am not familiar with this tank. Got a link to where I can check it out? Thanks for your feedback |

Boyd’s is located in Florida. Here’s the link. They also have a bed fill option too.

Thank you. Those tanks look really nice! |
Re: Tank relocation '72
Boyd’s are located in my neck of the woods. They have a pretty good reputation around here. If I was going to relocate my fuel tank I would use them.

Pearland or Friendswood? Im on the east end of Pearland. EDIT: never mind, see that you are in Santa Fe. Yep, right up the block. I own a shop down in Alvin but my 72 is here at the house with me. |

I went with a steel Blazer tank from LMC. I’ve got the full neck routed in to the bed via a boat fill neck and a Blazer fill neck cover.

Yes, for 16 years but now I just have it for my personal stuff. I did mostly fabrication and hot rod stuff, but did maintenance stuff as well. |

My good friend has a shop directly across the street that Id trust with my daughters/wife/grandma car. As honest as they come, and in my opinion is cheaper ($$$$) then he should be. Cambree Automotive on South Gordon, right next to Busy Bee cafe at 1462/S Gordon in Alvin. Owners name is Brandon, and I've known him for @ 10-11 years. Honest, and great mechanic, and did I say trustworthy? If you go see him, tell him Derrick knows you from this forum. He has a 58 Apache |
