PS Flow Control Valve with Hydroboost

Adding hydroboost to my 72 4x4. Are there any concerns for the flow control valve on the power steering pump? Is more flow needed? If so, what is a good GPM? Company called KRC has different flow rates available from 1.18 GPM to 2.92 GPM.

Believe 2.5 gpm would be about the minimum desired, no less less than 2 gpm. I will be running almost 5gpm at 1500-1600 psi with a ported hydroboost for my ram assist steering.

Re: PS Flow Control Valve with Hydroboost

I used the stock 49 year old ‘72 pump from my K20 when I did my Hydraboost swap. No issues. Stops right here right now compared to vacuum. Only thing I really ran into was in order to get it fully bled I had to add fluid while it was running to keep it from cavitating the pump and aerating the fluid.
