Front brake hose question
So I installed a CPP front disc brake conversion on my 70 C10. The brakes work great and have no real issue except the hoses from the frame to the caliper are way too long and the orientation of how the attach to the caliper makes them rub. I cut a piece of rubber hose to put over the brake hoses for not to keep chafing to a minimum but is there a different or maybe shorter brake hose people use? I would prefer my hoses to not touch anything if possible.

I'm rehabbing a 70 now with disc brakes. The hose i used was from Autozone 88466 seems to fit good. You will have to file the frame mount where the metal line meets the hose.

Awesome! Just picked up a set of the 88466 hoses and will install when I get time. Look to be about 3 inches shorter than what I have now.

I used these as well, they fit nicely

Disclaimer- when I put the disc brake conversion kit on my '70, I had to find different hoses, as the kit did not include them. I ended up getting '73 hoses and took the center clip off because I was too lazy to run the steel lines like would be "proper". Back to keeping an eye on the hoses. They obviously don't bend a lot, but they may rub, as has been mentioned. If I see that, I'll work on it, but so far they look fine. |
Re: Front brake hose question
You can bet that GM wouldn't have paid to put a metal bracket on that hose if it wasn't needed.

Re: Front brake hose question
Yup, they were routed differently on '73 and up.
