Oil pan hitting crossmember Sbc K5
I have a 72 k5 blazer. My motor was removed (stolen). I am now reassembling my truck and the oil pan of the new motor is rubbing on the crossmember. When the truck was disassembled they also removed the engine crossmember but they left it with the truck. I’m 95% sure it is installed the correct way. But not sure why the oil pan is rubbing. Truck was factory 350/th350/205. It is now 350/th350/205 so I’m not sure why it is rubbing. Any ideas? Motor mounts are autozone cheapos but they are what I used for the last motor and don’t run into this issue.

Did you flip the crossmeber around
I have tossed various 350 and 400 sbc into k trucks over the years with no rubbing issues |

Re: Oil pan hitting crossmember Sbc K5
Looks like a big block pan. And from that angle looks like the cross member is in backwards

Re: Oil pan hitting crossmember Sbc K5
My engine came with a 6 quart pan. I had to change it to a 5 quart pan to clear the front crossmember in my K5.

Re: Oil pan hitting crossmember Sbc K5
I’m not seeing different pans available for truck vs cars. And crossmember is in the same direction as the pictures I’ve found. Motor is a 67-79 block. I wonder if there is a way I can shim it up a little to keep it from rubbing.
