hood problems
hi so does anyone know how to adjust the hinge on a 55-2 chevy truck so that when you close it you dont have to push it down at the cowl so it is even with the cowl. thanks

Re: hood problems
i believe that is a sign of over-stretched springs and worn pivots, new hinges fixed that for me
are your hinges original to the truck? try repops from brothers or any of the truck vendors |
Re: hood problems
there are alot of posts on here about adjusting hoods, doors, ect i would suggest adding a shim between the hinge and cowl at the lower bolt. good luck

Re: hood problems
My 56 was the same.
My cure was squeezing the pivot points in my vice. Tightened them up nicely. |

Re: hood problems
This is a super common mistake, even by pros! I have told pros to "shim the hood down" and they look at me like I am a moron, then I do it in front of them and they look at me like I am a wizard! LOLOL
It's VERY simple, here are a few links. https://www.hotrodders.com/threads/h.../#post-1576191 Here is another full "Basics of Basics" on panel alignment. https://www.hotrodders.com/threads/b.../#post-1561503 Brian |
