8 track tape player
5 Attachment(s)
Was working 15 years ago when I got it and it's been in climate controlled storage ever since. I've got some home-made brackets I got from another member to go with it also. $650 shipped in CON.US.

Re: 8 track tape player
Hey Josh, you don't see these come up for sale very often. You have a very cool piece of audio equipment. This won't be for sale long.

Re: 8 track tape player
I have bought many of them over the last 20 years and by the time you restore them your at a grand good deal here I have two in stock now or I’d be a buyer

Re: 8 track tape player
That is a nice 8track player. What's the difrence with the ones that say GM and the the ones with the bow tie on the lid. I have one with the bow tie and want to put it in a 72 chyanne. Would that be a correct tape player for it ?

Re: 8 track tape player
Pretty sure the original units had a crossover box and wiring that allowed 2 speakers + the dash speaker. There are some companies that reproduce the speaker, pretty sure it's the same as cars. However, when I mount one of my players, I'll probably just tie in to dash speaker or mount another hidden under dash speaker. According to pics I've seen, the original speakers were mounted in the kick panel beside the fresh air vent. Not sure I want to make that cut!

Re: 8 track tape player
No amp, should plug and play. You’d have to fab some connectors or splice into this harness for power and speakers.

I think you need to use an amp with this 8 track.
The brackets on this player are incorrect. I have corrected the design. |
Re: 8 track tape player
I’ve never heard of using an amp on these players. The silver box you have pictured is the crossover box for the speakers.

Here’s two more units I have. One is a complete set up with speakers pulled from a truck and the other is a professional rebuild - neither use an amplifier.

There is also another bracket that is made to fasten the back of the tape player to the heater duct.

Re: 8 track tape player
I got Tuff Gongs message. I will take your 8 track. Let me know haw to get you paid. Thanks, Chuck
Thanks Tuff Gong and 71blksuper4x4 for all the help on this. Ironically, last year I threw away two speakers and one cover that were in my cab when I got it and then proceeded to weld up the holes thinking they were some aftermarket junk! |
