Took my 2 granddaughters on a drive this evening through some off roads and they had a bunch of fun (staying with us for a bit). Thought I would start a thread with pics. of grandkids and trucks.
We seen 8 deer and lost count on rabbits but the most fun was going through the window cranks, 2 gear shifts, turn the knobs for the radio. Had to explain everything. I was told the mirrors were way better than the ones we now have. This will be something I do every summer as it was as much fun as taking them to an amusement park or something like that. Just thought I would share and if anybody had similar experiences to post. Thanks Russ |

Re: grandkids
My granddaughter is young enough to require a car seat (3 yo), but old enough to get a big kick out of riding in granddad's truck without one, standing in the seat, without the restraint of the seat belt. The look in her eyes says "Granddad and his truck are Awesome". Don't flame me...the ride was just on my private drive at 5 miles an hour with Mom. Just a little taste of the way it used to be. Anybody remember laying in the rear package tray on a long trip while mom held the younger baby sibling in her lap?
My nieces and nephews also light-up when they can ride in the bed of my 4x4 while taking a tour of the property...it's just something they can't do in suburbia. It's like breaking the law! |

Re: grandkids
My 17 year old grandson likes to drive my old '69 C 10 . Mostly because it's a manual trans I think . Quite a few years back it was running rough and backfiring when he was riding in it with me for a test drive . He asked " WHAT WAS THAT ?" . I told him it backfired . He said "DO IT AGAIN POPPIE " . Silly boy .

I used to be that little kid in grandma and grandpas '72 C10, learned to drive in that truck while combining beans one fall on the farm. The truck is now mine and I'm finishing up the restoration. My little 4 year old loves to help in the shop, even has his own shop goggles haha. He will be the 4th generation to own this truck

My daughters and granddaughters love to go places in the Suburban...usually the beach...but also out into the darkness to see the Bethlehem Star...or just running errands with Gramps!
