Anyone using a hidden antenna that works well

I plan on welding up the antenna hole in the cowl panel for a cleaner look. Does anyone have experience with a "hidden" antenna that works well?

I have one. I welded up the antenea hole and drilled a nice hole in the back panel and ran the wire thru it. I will post a picture.

I got mine at a hotrod show. The bad thing about it it doent work well behind metal. I put mine low on the rear glass and havent had a problem. I think I paid 30 bucks for it.

here is a picture. Also this antenea runs of 12 volts.

Most Panels didn't come with a radio so no antenna was installed.I didn't want to drill the cowl so I tried it under the dash mounted crossways and tucked up where you can't see it.It is just a plain old cheapie parts store antenna but it works well.Don't let it touch metal except for the mounting.I braced the whip end with a mount drilled and fitted with a grommet for it to fit thru.

I'VE USED THE CHEAPIE $4.99 ANNTENAS UNDER DASHES ALSO. I JUST GROUNDED THE BASE & INSULATED THE MAST BY WRAPPING IT WITH DUCT TAPE. WORKED LIKE A CHARM. JOHN

I have seen one that is mounted under the hood. It is screwed in on the side of the inner fender or side of the engine compartment and the head of the antenna pops through the radiator support. That seemed to work perfect.

I had mine frenched in the side of the cab. Does it count for being hid? I have seen this done also with a small antenea that just let's the top stick through the opening.

I use one they sell for boats and planes, got it on Ebay about 3yrs ago for $5. I siliconed it place under the cowl down in the wiper arm valley and painted it to match. You never see it and works great with my system.:bowtie:
