Diy kick panel speaker
4 Attachment(s)
Was at home depot in roofing and found these. Decided to give them a try. Think it cost about $12 for both sides. There is writing at the bottom but figuring I may wrap them.

They also have metal one but probably not deep enough for a speaker and would need to add a spacer ring.

Re: Diy kick panel speaker
I would never have thought of using sewer vent flashing for speakers

Re: Diy kick panel speaker
awesome idea!!
:metal: Are you still able to use the emergency/parking brake?? |
Re: Diy kick panel speaker
I think I saw someone on here with same idea but 6 inch speakers fit perfect. I'll post pics once I get them finished and installed

Re: Diy kick panel speaker
That is a good idea, I hope it will clear the e-brake handle.
You may be able to move the e-brake handle over a few inches by relocating the mounting hardware. |

Interesting idea. Keep us posted on your progress. I will be interested to see if you go with the rubber one or the metal.

If I used the metal one then I would line it with kill mat. Right now I'm In the middle of prepping truck for rewire, new fuel pump and vintage air. Here is a pic with e brake pushed. Would probably clear with no or low profile speaker grill.

Re: Diy kick panel speaker
I have one of those speaker kick panels you buy for way too much money. It only works with a shallow 6.5" speaker without the grill :cuss:
Looks like you win the inventive genius award for the month. |
Re: Diy kick panel speaker
Very Cool

Awesome... Going to go buy a set tonight.

Re: Diy kick panel speaker
What size speaker are you using and what size pipe flashing are you using?

https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0...?ie=UTF8&psc=1 Fits like it was made for it. After looking at it and thinking about it, it would be easy to cut the bottom off where the lettering is and lower the speaker to the floor which may give even more clearance for a speaker. The plastic one number is CMIHB34 for a 4 inch. I cut out most of the rubber. It works really nice and gives a cushion to the speaker. Online shows $6.98 https://www.homedepot.com/p/Gibralta...HB34/100319899 Would like to see what others try with this. I can think of a couple other ways to cut these to clear the brake. |

By no means perfect. But just bust out your orbital sander to get rid of the writing. Sanded the whole thing with an 80 grit disc. Will probably go back over with a 100 grit to clean it up.
Also, confirmed the parking brake will clear as well with a low profile screen. Will definitely have to move the brights though. |

Ordered a set of these as well. Going to put down sound deadener/heat barrier with the carpet, but figured this would work in the meantime... https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0...?ie=UTF8&psc=1 |
Re: Diy kick panel speaker
Very ingenious idea.
Being sewer pipe flashing, does it make you radio sound like crap? |
