Paper sticks to my truck...
I parked my truck on the street and paper notes keep sticking to it asking if it's for sale.
I sold my house and don't have a place to park it so it's on the street. Every time I go by to check it I find another note. Hopefully I find a storage yard here pretty quick. |
Re: Paper sticks to my truck...
You're lucky. I have people knocking on my door.

Bay Area?? I would be finding a way to keep it from being stolen. Lock out the ignition or starter with a switch.

Re: Paper sticks to my truck...
Yeah, mine's just an old truck, but I don't like people leaving notes on it, either. If it ain't yours, keep your pickers off! I can just picture someone coming up and lifting the wiper blade to put a note under it, and the whole arm popping off, and scratching the custom paint (not on my truck, though). I'd sure feel like dog droppings if I did that to someone's property.

Re: Paper sticks to my truck...
I have no wipers on my truck. So no worries about someone putting a note on it. But I have had people stop me and offer to buy it. But they don't go near my truck. Maybe because I have a snarling big azz German Shepherd in it. Duke likes to ride in the truck. And he doesn't like strangers. He's better than an alarm.

Re: Paper sticks to my truck...
I dread the day that someone wants to spend more on my truck than I am willing to turn down. I doubt it ever happens, but it will be a day of self-evaluation that I could regret the rest of my life.
Most "is-it-for-saler's" are just looking for a cheap buy. They think that it can't hurt to ask. I guess they are right, but it gets a bit annoying...like what year is it?...at every gas station. It's just a small price to pay for an classic owner. They say, "is it for sale?" I say, "everything's for sale" with a greedy look on my face and they get the picture that they don't have enough and the conversation turns to how much they like it and we're all good. |

Re: Paper sticks to my truck...
Before I had my privacy fence put up . Guys would sometimes stop and ask about buying my old truck . Now it's out of sight . When I'm running errands , people do often comment about it . Most ask what year it is . I don't mind talking if they're not too long winded .

But when I’m drive this it ranges from “ That’s beautiful “ to " offers “to your crazy driving it from the guys who look at the vin and realize it’s a true 138 SS .

As for the last post you made, back in those days the GTO/Le Mans/Tempest distinction was also made in the VIN. I had a '65 Tempest convertible that I was restoring in '92, but peace had broken out a year earlier, and I'd lost my defense job. I ended up selling it to make the mortgage. The guy told me he was going to "GTO it". I kept mum. When/if he ever went to sell it, a savvy buyer would have spotted the fake. |

I at first thought what the hell is a groat? The realised it was all caps . Had one weird interaction with a 30 something with my truck. I parked it and a guy standing next to his car a few spots away yells out " thumbs up " without actually doing it . Guess he thought he was on his phone |

Sign in the window in all capital letters "NOT FOR SALE". And maybe a cover?

Re: Paper sticks to my truck...
I would just put a For Sale sign on it with a ridiculous price on it with the word FIRM right after.
