Sold my 69... might get a 68

What's up fellow members. So it was hard but I sold my truck back in February. My job location was moved and now had a long commute sitting in Los Angeles traffic. Couldn't drive my 69 c20 with 411 gears daily. Didn't want to see it just sitting there. Sold it and got my dream car project, a 65 riviera. A couple of months later I was offered a job back close to home again and I took it. Man I really missed my truck. I have a friend that had a neighbors brother pass away and the neighbor sold him a 68 c20. His plan was to fix a little and sell it. He offered it to me to take it as is. I went to look at it and got pretty excited. It is a factory air 68 with a recent rebuilt 396 BB. Has a dana 60 coil rear end so my guess is it has a 3.73 gears. It has a little rust on rockers. Looks like it won't take much to get it to a 20 mile round trip daily driver. What do yall think?

My 68 half ton came with 3.07 gears. Not sure on what 3/4 ton gears were available. Being 3/4 ton, 3.73 might be the smallest number ratio.

Congrats!!!
I hope the 396 was properly re-done!!!

There's a recent thread here, Title is something line one in a Vermillion. Owner bought a nice 67 C20, converted it to a 1/2 ton, very well done!!!

More pictures!!!

I think you scored. That is my favorite color on these trucks. It'll look good next to your Riv.

How is good old Norwalk these days? I spent a lot of time in Nowalk, S.F. Springs and Downey.

Clean it up and take it to Bobs on Firestone. If they're still doing the car shows these days.

Good score! Looks like it has some good options.

It could also have a Dana 60 3.54 gear in it.

That’s what I was thinking too BB had the 3.54 option or was it standard and the other gears optional ?

If the price is right that would be hard to turn down. You could make a 40 mile per day driver out of that I’m certain.

What about the Riv? That’s a favorite of mine but I’ve not seen one in person in years.

It's good. Been here since 09. They're trying to rebuild the norwalk square. Downey has been growing a lot the last 10 years. A lot of places to go eat and hangout.

If that's the case even better. Thanks.

I'm driving 20 per day now. The riv is a big project. Hasn't ran in 30 years. Tried to save the engine but it needs a rebuild. Hard to find a builder with nailhead engine experience. Doing interior now. Sat in the high desert so only rust area was in lower rear window channel. Just doing little work here and there but I definitely miss driving a classic. I miss the sound and the smell. Haha.

Yeah. The last time I went to Norwalk Square it kind of needed a facelift. I hope that they restore that big sign on the corner. It's cool.

When I left they had just built that big shopping center on Lakewood Blvd in Downey. It went all the way to Bellflower Blvd if I remember correctly. It was a big place, right next to Downey Landing. I used to go to Harbor Freight there and buy crappy tools.

I do miss the food. I miss Tommy's over on Avalon and Pioneer. I would get a double chili cheeseburger at least twice a week.

And there was a hole in the wall place on Bloomfield and Leffingwell? I can't remember. It might have been Bloomington. I always mixed those two up. But this place had the best Lengua tacos. A real dump but the food was great.
