Classic Instruments Temperature Sensor 12mm

Re: Classic Instruments Temperature Sensor 12mm
Yes. I am currently running one on my 2001 LS1. Its a direct fit and screws right in the rear of the pass side head. I am running it to factory gauges of my 78 C10 Silverado. Not sure if it is exact in temp readings but it will run at 1/2 gauge and at 3/4 gauge which is 207 (based on my PCM setup). The fans turn on and it cools down to 1/2 and the fans shut off. So for me it works fine as a indicator of I am in a safe running temp.

Re: Classic Instruments Temperature Sensor 12mm
Do you happen to know if the 78 temp gauge has the same ohms range as 70?
|
Re: Classic Instruments Temperature Sensor 12mm
I don't know. All I can tell you is the 3/4 position is around 207 temp. based on how my computer is set to turn on the fans

Re: Classic Instruments Temperature Sensor 12mm
I think the Classic Instruments sender is calibrated for their gauge...not sure of the resistance range?

Re: Classic Instruments Temperature Sensor 12mm
This is the exact issues I'm running into as well
I have NVU gauges and I am looking for a temp gauge sensor that is M12 x 1.5 - while this gauge fits that spec will it read accurately with my NVU gauges ? My other option is to use the M12 adaptor from ITC ( or others) but then the temp probe tip isn't truly in the water flow so how accurate will that be? I cant be the only one trying to solve this .... |
Re: Classic Instruments Temperature Sensor 12mm
i am running one in my 78 with factory gauge and ecm from a 2002 camero. Works great . fans come on at 1/2 go off at 1/4 gauge . Dont know anymore details then that.

Re: Classic Instruments Temperature Sensor 12mm
I called classic industries and they are not willing to give out the OHMs range for their sending unit ........... I find that very odd. How do they expect people to buy their part if they wont share the details of them ......
maybe its just me |
Re: Classic Instruments Temperature Sensor 12mm
I used one from Stewart Warner. Seemed to work fine. It took me 3-4 months to get it at the time, but that was during covid.

Re: Classic Instruments Temperature Sensor 12mm
I just ordered the adapter and will see what happens
