Grille assembly

I'm trying to assemble my inner and outer grille for my 69. It's been a while and I guess I should have taken pictures. I will post a picture of what I thought was a grille assembly kit that I bought a while back, hopefully someone can tell me if this is suppose to work.

white plastic clip with screw , Push into hole and tighten screw to expand

The metal clip is used on gm cars to install windshield/ rear window trim mouldings . :chevy:

Thanks guys for the information and the link to the video. The only problem I see is that my grille does not have the square holes in it for the clips, they are all round (I'm reusing my original grille) so it looks like I may have to use the original style clips and screws. I don't know if a person could grind the edges of the white clips to make them round or not.

Grumpy, On the first page is the screw and clip, here is a picture of my 69 grille, round holes (I have 3 grilles all alike) also a shot to inner grille with square holes. Were all the originals made with round holes and repo's made with square holes?

In this instance I do believe they intended for a square clip to fit in a round hole . I gave a grille the same as yours to my neighbor he has it on his garage wall , I'll get some pictures of it tomorrow . I'm pretty sure your going to have to take the corners off your square clips to fit tightly into the round holes of the grille and then tighten the screws to expand the clips . :chevy:

Re: Grille assembly

Why not just turn the round holes into rectangular holes

I solved the problem, found out it was easier to cut the tips off the back side, grind it smooth on the back side, put it in the grill use the screw thru it into one of the old style c clips. It tightens up nice and looks good.
