Stupid odometer question

1 Attachment(s)
I am trying to figure out my odometer reading on my auto meter gauge. I am assuming that the read number is miles and not tenths of a mile. Meaning that I have 38,032 miles on my odometer. The only reason I am unsure is because that seems like a lot of miles for the amount that I have been driving. I know that the easiest way to answer my question is to just drive the truck but I have an oil leak right now and I need to let my insurance company know by tomorrow

Black is miles, red is tenths of a mile

So 3803.2 miles

I agree with Warren

That is good. I don’t know how I possibly could have put 38 thousand miles on the truck. It seems odd that they would only have enough spaces for 99,999 miles.

Maybe they think the majority of their customers won't drive the vehicle more than 100k miles?

I probably put less than 5k miles a year on my truck because I split my driving between my Dakota and my C10. I definitely drive the Dakota more during the summer because A/C

All old vehicles just went to 99,999 miles. Thats about all they would last back then.

Yep, remember what a big deal it was when you "rolled it over"?
Edit: BTW Forrest, what are the black markers around the bezel for?

My speedometer doesn’t match up with my actual speed so I used an app on my phone to figure out what my speedometer reading actually means and then put markers on it so that I can tell what speed I am actually going. I know that there’s a plastic gear in the transmission that you can change out but I am Awfully lazy.

I knew I couldn’t have driven 38,000 miles. I mostly drive a gas sipping Honda with ac to work.

Mine is off too  It reads about 5 mph slow for me, so fairly easy to guesstimate. I tried changing the driven gear, but currently, I need to change both the drive and driven gear to make it correct. I hope that's not the case for your truck!
