What purpose is this capacitor at the blower motor?
1 Attachment(s)
I am trying to get my blower going on my 79 C10. What is this littlle silver compontant that goes in series with the blower motor wire? What is it's purpose?

Re: What purpose is this capacitor at the blower motor?
Normally, capacitors like that are for noise suppression for radios. Haven't seen one there except on military CUCVs. Possible a PO added that to get rid of fan motor whine in a CB/Ham rig or an aftermarket stereo setup.

I have the same capacitor on a 78 with no a/c.
perhaps 1. Capacitor smooths out the current if when the motor turns on it draws a spike. 2. Absorb RF interference |

my 82 does not have one. What does the vacuum ball above it do? I could never figure it out.

Not sure. Can I tell if the SPID is missing?

I've also seen those capacitors on various square bodies in the junkyard, but not every one of them. Maybe they were limited to certain audio options, like only if you opted for a CB or FM radio.
