Black Anodized Finish
Does anybody know of a way to get a black anodized finish using a spray product? Duplicolor has this product but not in black.
Any help would be appreciated. Thanks, Randy |
What are u trying to paint? Have you considered powder coat?
BTW Welcome to the board from South Mississippi! |
what type of metal are you trying to put it on ?
|
Actually it's not metal at all. I need to refinish the AC vents and was thinking of doing them in a black anodized finish if I could.
If it doesn't work I can always replace them with chrome but I thought I'd try something different. |
Are those vents aluminum? Anodizing is a process whereby aluminum oxide is drawn to the surface of an aluminum piece. If you want 'em black, you might consider powder coating or epoxy enamel. As with anything, prep is the key.

I don't think they are aluminum but the center vent maybe.
The ball vents feel like plastic. |
Paint them satin black.

anodizing doesn't come out of a can ...
|
Nope it sure doesn't but if you look at Duplicolor's Metalcast product you will see what I mean. It give you the look of anodized aluminum on just about any surface, the only problem is it doesn't come in black.

I used the anodized silver duplicolor spray paint for the hinges on the tailgate and the hood hinges and it looked pretty good...I haven't seen black either tho'
