72 GMC C2500 time capsule. 24K original miles

Recently purchased this truck. Not sure what direction to go with it. My original thoughts were to convert to a 4x4 with a LS swap but having second thoughts. I am going to leave it sit for awhile and think on it. I am the third owner. The gentleman I purchased it from bought it 14 years ago drove it home and it has sat in his garage since. It’s all there. The only thing missing is the windshield washer bottle and the exhaust is gone after the y pipe. All exhaust hangers still intact. Spare rim under the bed. Jack handle still in the bag etc. 350 3 speed on the column.

It as been started and driven in his driveway on a regular basis. Everything works as it should. I haven’t brought it home yet. I purchased from the brother of a good friend. He was kind enough to hold it for me until mid December while I make room for it.

Agree, I love original trucks and yours looks awesome, but give it some time, look at other trucks and you’ll figure it out.

Nice find. I would just concentrate on rust repair repairs only. Base models are the hardest to find in clean original straight shape, most were work trucks that got abused, not like higher end trim models that were bought mainly bought for leisure. And a GMC means even less in exisistance.

I have been a huge fan of 67 to 72 GM trucks since the age of 16 when I got my first. 57 years young now and have had many over the years. I currently have 2 67s.

I like original pickups also...
I don't see where putting that 2500 back original will make it worth any amount of $$$.
Hot Rodders say to find a nice older car to start your project with, instead of a rusting hulk.
Do what you want with it. It's a good foundation to start with. Much of the original pluses can stay with your build ideas, and make your version of it better!!!

It's still a free country!!!

I love an original. That 3 on the tree would be a blast to tool around in. But as most every one says, do what makes you happy. 30 years ago, I’d be setting her up on a 4x4 chassis or turning her into a Sierra Grande. These days I’d just haul trash to the dump with her every Saturday am and just tell every one that asks “nawww, I think I’ll hang on to her for a while”.

Considering the nice two you already have, that cover the spectrum from low shortbed to lifted 8-lugger 4wd, this one would be great to leave be and just run as a handy survivor chore boy. Yep, free world and I won't hate you whatever you decide.

I have an idea that you might find interesting. I like the idea of a touring truck. Not pro touring, the way that that's defined by giant wheels and short wall tires and high dollar suspension and brakes. But a truck that's got the power to maintain good speeds for long distances and is comfortable. Rides better than a 4x4 or a significantly lowered truck. Long wheelbase is better for that. 3/4 ton frame is better for that. Could then put it on half ton springs and good shock absorbers. Good brakes without going over the top. Front and rear stabilizers that aren't as big as your wrist. A good running motor with decent mufflers to eliminate drone, nice cabin with reasonable creature comforts. Anyway, I'll stop describing my idea but I thought I'd throw it out there. Kind of splits the difference between the rigs you already have.

To me, that is what all the four corner coil springs C/10 longbeds are good for from factory, with radials added. Nice driving and riding trucks from new. All they really lack for today's driving is overdrive, because everything else has it. Not challenging your idea, you just described what I'd like to have. A long bed Sierra Grande C1500 to add to my pair of big 8-lug 4wd and low SWB .
