Wood bed floor in blazer

Has any ever put a wood floor in a blazer like the trucks. Thinking about doing it to my 1969 blazer.

What about wood strips like a Willys wagon came with.

I didn't flip through the mentioned post to find pics.

I replaced my rear body sub structure so the wood bed floor doesn't have to do any structural work

Nicely done

Curious about your hitch, got any close up photos

Re: Wood bed floor in blazer

It’s a square body hitch but I modified the rear frame with a box plate and an extra crosser so I could mound the tank straps from to rear . I’ll add a link to my pics

Thanks for the comment Jim , tell the truth it was looking at your build pictures over and over again that inspired me to put a wood bed floor in my 69, it’s very nice!

Thanks for the comment Yours is the only other one I’ve seen

Truck looks great, you sure did blow it apart, was there much rust in it?

Thanks for following my build

Re: Wood bed floor in blazer

Jim,
Yea living in central IL rust is a constant but my theory is if you start with nothing there’s no mistory about what you need to fix ! I spent 3 years rebuilding and changing the rear body structure so it doesn’t need the rocker box trusses , purest would hate it but also during the inner rocker replacement (3/16” plate) I opened up a channel for cowel air to flow through the rocker and exit in front of the rear tire to keep it clean and dry much like a GM A body car . I know GM may have don’t more to make the body more ridged instead of the boxes but they were forced to lower product cost to make more profit so they comminuzed as much as they could with the trucks .

Re: Wood bed floor in blazer

I understand the common parts completely, just look at the tri 5s

I have a 68 front end on my truck and every screw hole lined up, didn’t like all the chrome on the GMC

Curios to see your mod, sounds like a good idea

Here is a view of the vent cavity , you can see the rectangular hole that flows air into the door pillar and down the the rocker and the other pic is of the plate steel rocker back , notice the hole at the rear to let air out so it has flow
