delco/moraine or bendix brakes
I have a 72 with pwr disc brakes. how can I tell if the system is a bendix or delco/moraine type.
|
look at the master cylinder, if it has one bail (wire) holding the cover on then it's a delco, two bails then it's a bendix.

Welcome aboard! A typical Delco-Moraine booster is originally a sort of gold color, while the Bendix is black, with a flat side that has 3 distinct square impressions in the front, one of which is occupied by the vacuum hose connector. If I remember, the master cylinders will interchange, whether you have a Delco-Moraine or Bendix booster, but the boosters themselves will not. I think the difference is in the firewall mounting bracket bolt spacing. Somebody correct me if I'm wrong (again).

as far as the booster is concerned, it is usually stamped just above the master cylinder and to the right as you face it. It isn't a very deep stamping and easy to miss if it is painted or rusty.

Welcome to the board from Iowa, sorry I only know that brakes make things stop
