Cleaned inside gas tank......
2 Attachment(s)
I dropped my tank and was gonna do a deep chemical cleaning, but just did a light cleaning and to me before and after pics it doesn't look as bad as I thought.....only problem now is I don't have air compressor to blow out my fuel lines.....I have carburetor soaking and getting cleaned....new gasket seal kit for 4150 Holley.....had a fuel starve problem, so cleaning everything up for now.

Re: Cleaned inside gas tank......
Spray as much carburetor cleaner as you can from the carb end back down the lines to the tank connection and replace any rubber sections, should be good!

Re: Cleaned inside gas tank......
Will be putting tank and cleaned out lines back together tomorrow. Spraying carb cleaner down lines wasn't a bad idea forgetting how short the run actually is. I got the thinking, would it make a difference to run on mid 89 instead of 87....and I'll throw in myster marvel bottle and full up to about. Little over half.....with this being a used engine clean carb, kinda unsure of going back to regular 87.... Should I go non ethanol....e 85....or would it not matter being a non performance engine...

Re: Cleaned inside gas tank......
Assuming a stock or mostly stock motor, run 87. No E85 unless you made the entire fuel system alcohol ready. 87 E10 ok if you keep the tank mostly full. Most fuel system parts made after the mid 80s are rated for E10 fuels.

Re: Cleaned inside gas tank......
If it were me I would get new stainless fuel lines from inline tube.

Re: Cleaned inside gas tank......
I agree that 87 octane is right. You would need to have higher compression or advance your timing to make it necessary for a higher octane fuel. I don't think you'll ever go wrong by using E0 if you have it available, although up here it's expensive. I run Chevron gas and have seen the techron in a bottle be helpful and so I like that it is in all grades of Chevron gas. I also use stabil 360 as a fuel stabilizer, fuel system cleaner, and anti-corrosion method.

Re: Cleaned inside gas tank......
Non ethonal if available and unless your truck is pinging no need to run high test . High test is actually less volatile than regular.
