Fuel gauge sending unit

I was getting ready to hook up my new fuel gauge, so I bench tested the gauge and sending unit. it all worked great. I put it back in the gauge cluster and checked one more time on the bench and it didn't work. Checked the sending unit and it was reading 68 ohms with the float in the full position and 128 in the empty position. I have checked the gauge and it is working fine. The sender is a new 30 ohm unit from tanks inc and I had a secure ground connection so I know that was good. Has anyone had this problem?

Could they have sent you the wrong ohlm gauge?

Re: Fuel gauge sending unit

I got it from the car and truck shop, replacement gauge for a 62. They said that it was a 30 ohm. the thing that is puzzling me is the readings I get from the sender. It worked fine one day and once it was installed it went sidewise.
