66 cowl seal
1 Attachment(s)
Final details on my truck. Pictured is what I know as the cowl seal. Seals between the back of the fender to cowl. I was very specific when I ordered the rubber but not sure if is the one I need. Anyone have input, tips pictures of the install?

Looks like a great seal laid back and all. Your going to have to cut in your own bolt holes? Take your time.

Re: 66 cowl seal
I've always thought a cowl seal is the one that seals the grated panel (below the windshield) to the back edge of the hood when it's closed. I'm not sure what seal is in the picture, but looks like it's not for the metal fender supports in the pic. I just had my fenders off and the ones that go on the support in the pic are more of a rigid formed piece which is shaped to fit the void. They are held to the supports with 3 or 4 metal fasteners. They are there to keep tire spray out of the door jamb area.

That seal or weather-strip is used to put between the inner fender well to the firewall. I used 3M weather stripping glue from a tube. Measure twice cut once.

The gap is cause the steering cover already had its seal stapled to it. They send "just enough" to fit what you need done. you'll need it on outer side of hood hinge as well.

Whoa! It seems like that truck isn't going to see any bad weather anyway. Looking awesome!

So I used the seal they sent me. Actually made for the stock inner fenders. It was easier to install as it has a groove that I just glued to the steel. No staples to deal with.

So now I find the thread on fender seals. - http://67-72chevytrucks.com/vboard/s...t=fender+seals

Re: 66 cowl seal
Interesting. But is the fender seal wide enough to close the gap to the firewall when installed?

Re: 66 cowl seal
Excellent! Going to do the same fix. The staples are out of my capacity and glue is easy. Looks to be a better seal as well. Thanks for the info.
