Aftermarket column + old steering wheel?

I have a Classic Performance tilt column with an aftermarket steering wheel. I feel the steering wheel looks out of place, too modern. I'm thinking I'd like to find a vintage GM wheel from the era of the truck. A C10 deluxe wheel or an Impala/Belair/Biscayne style. The description in their listing says "fits most aftermarket hubs/wheels". I have no idea if the old wheels will fit this column though. Anyone know?

No I don't know. Has to be someone who has tried it here though.

I did a little more research on my column. Part number is TC-#30-FB. Their website also says you can fit any 67-94 GM steering wheel. Hmm what about 65?

I got an original Impala wheel to work great with a new I Did It column.

You will need to drill the older wheel at about the 10:30 position for the horn button pass through. I did this with a 64 Impala wheel that I had on my 66 truck with an Ididit column. Ididit has the procedure on their website, and on Youtube I think. The Classic Performance column probably uses the same 10:30 horn button pass through.

I picked up this Impala wheel cheap. I'll need to fill the cracks and paint. Could be tricky to patch the cracks right beside the chrome trim. It only has 3 of the 4 little chrome rings though and I have no idea where to get a replacement.

A buddy also has a 65 Belair wheel he says is in nice shape (he says no cracks) but it'll be a few weeks till he can get it. He doesn't think it has the 4 little chrome rings.

I ordered the Iditit adapter kit (2612100040) hoping it will work with my Classic Performance column.

I am installing an Ididit column with the original steering wheel, you need to use their steering wheel kit to make up the gap between the wheel and column.

Generally, the splines on the early Chevy steering wheels are the same, but it's the shape and depth of the steering wheel hub that can leave a gap between the wheel and the column. I also went with an Ididit Retro Series column and reduced the diameter of a deluxe (Biscayne) steering wheel.

Weird, it looks like that Biscayne wheel didn't need the filler ring to match the diameter of the retro column... I have the same column but am using a truck Deluxe wheel and it obviously needs the filler ring.

This came off an early Nova. I used the blow ring from the Nova and a 65 Gmc cap. I couldn't get the ring to blow the horn but i had the one grounding ring on upside down. Column out of a 80 Chevy van with tilt had to move neutral safety switch now all fits perfect. Sorry about the pics all i have right now.

The two tone is cool. My interior is black seats and silver paint.

Is the wheel deeper than the truck wheel?

My '65 Deluxe steering wheel is 5-1/4" deep.

Thats a good question never measured it. I will take a look at it. I bought this truck as a basket case i don't even think i had a steering wheel.

Deadbird, Vin63, what is the part number for the ididit column. I am looking to fit a custom deluxe wheel to a new tilt column

I just purchased an Ididit Retrofit steering column for my '65 C10.

ididit 1140650010

Best price I could find and still get it before June was through Summit Racing.

You'll also need to purchase the steering wheel adapter kit to fill in the gap between the column and original wheel.

I picked up this Nova wheel and restored it. It is mounted to a 70 Camaro column. I used the spacer from the adapter kit. The 4 Stainless rings are easy to remove while restoring.
