Bought 1979 K10 in the LA area, thanks Wikid
Doing a F,B,D this week from California to Central Texas, truck runs very good. Cruises down the highway at 70 mph.

Nice! Did one of those trips myself a few years ago from southern Oregon to northern Michigan, about 1900 miles. Best of luck to you!!

Well I guess I could help you out and send some funds for the V30 so you can recoup some expense from buying that. ;) Looks like it's pretty solid.

Thanks !
The fella has been doing quite well, cruising around 70 mph, differential must be numerically low. Had a bit of trouble about 50 miles west of Gallup, NM. Met a really nice guy while I was pondering my options, he let me put the truck in his garage and HE proceeded to fix the fuel problem. The one thing I know for sure, after doing this F,B,D thing for over 30 years, there are still plenty of damn fine people out there ! https://i.postimg.cc/pTjjhx49/91-E77...E037-AA449.jpg |

That's a slick K10! Always liked the short 4x4 step sides... neat looking rigs.
Planning to make a trip like this in June with a friend. Going to buy a square out by him in MN and road trip it back here to New England. Figured we'd stop and see a bunch of equipment/tractor museums along the way. Hope it goes as smoothly as your endeavor! |

Thanks Jake, all the best to you on your adventure. Reach out if I can help or share info.
Home last night, only 2 minor breakdowns, minor because they were close to towns with parts stores. the truck ran great, hours on end at 70-75 with no oil burn  ***correction, checked oil this morning, half a quart low. the last 750 mile stretch from Albuquerque to home yesterday was a bit*h, the high winds were a bastard, especially with the blowing dust and dirt across the back roads and into the cab of the truck, hours of that sh*t. I must admit, these runs are getting a bit more difficult….but I doubt it will keep me from doing it again  https://i.postimg.cc/4y7s7xKm/E57-F7...A24-D90-C6.jpg |

Is f, b, d, fly, buy, drive? I've never seen those initials before. That is a neat truck. As far as I was concerned through the 70s, that was the only kind of pickup worth paying attention to. A Chevy short bed stepside. It stayed that way up until the Fall Guy came along, haha. Maybe you can convert this thread into a build thread? It'd be cool to follow along.

I’ve done this many times over the last 30 something years, never a permit, many times the seller would remove the plates and I’d drive it with nothing. Never been pulled over ;) …….yet |
