Firewall filler panel

I am working on a 61 that was a 3 speed column shift and the firewall filler panel is rusted. I ordered a new panel and it doesn't fit. There wasn't any options for a high or low tunnel when I ordered it. I also have a 62 c30 with a 4 speed floor shift and the panel on it and my 61 look the exact same. The panel that I ordered looks like it would fit the firewall but the cover would not fit. Any ideas?

Got some pictures of what you're working with?
Also, what panel are you referring to?

I can post some pictures here in a little while. It's the piece between the firewall and the cover for the transmission, the gas pedal Attaches to it. It's welded in and the cover bolts to it.

Oh, ok. That piece is different between the low hump transmission covers and the high hump transmission covers. Sounds like you might have ordered a high hump piece to replace your low hump floor piece on your 61

I would have assumed my column shift 3 speed in my 61 half ton would have been the low and my 62 one ton 4 speed floor shift would be a high, but they are the same.

here is my 62, sorry for the 3 posts but something about a security token popped up when I tried all 3 at the same time.

Fixed it. I wonder if it's different than this members that is for sale? https://67-72chevytrucks.com/vboard/...d.php?t=831011

I don't know if this helps you right now but I went with the high hump tunnel cover from Slosh Tubz. Just a little trimming of the outer edge and it fits great.

Mine after trimming, painting with POR-15 and installing with riv-nuts.

Unless that piece is swiss cheese, I'd just coat it with POR-15 and move forward. Even if it is swiss cheese it would be easy enough to have the bad metal replaced or you could just use POR-15 and fiberglass mat, maybe 2-3 layers and you'd be able to jump on it. I've done this to small thin spots in other vehicles.

Interesting that they are both high humps.
On the security token thing, it was probably because you were trying to upload all 3 pictures at one. You have to upload each picture, so pressing the upload button each time, for a single post

There is quite a bit of rust on mine, fixable yes but on this I figured it would be easier to get the right part for $80. I guess I'll have to fix this one or see what else I can find. I like saving what is there but I just got done fixing all the damn rust in the roof and was kinda hoping to just have some light tweaking on a Chinese panel.

Yeah it threw me off seeing them being the same.
