Driver door seal and setting door gap

I'm trying to set the door gap on my drivers side door. I thought I had it set good but then I installed the door seal. Now my door does not close. The gap was OK with the old flatten door seal. I'm about to weld in new rockers.

Is the correct way to set the door gaps is with the door seal installed?

I set mine with the door seal installed. How tight is your striker, may be too tight with the new seals. There is some resistance with the new seals.

With the old door weatherstrip seal the door closes ok with the striker.

With the new seal I can't get the door to close. Even when slamming the door several times.

Have you got your front fender off or is it still on, if you haven't taken the front fender off how does your door line up at about midway up the door. your door might be too tight to the cab right at the hinges.
Also how is the plastic on your striker? If it's broken, you'll have a hard time latching the door with the new seals.
