72 Cheyenne Super 30. Thoughts?

LONGHORN. Forgot to put that in the title. Came across this truck. Haven't seen it in person but do have these pictures. It has been converted to 4wd with a Dana60. Still has the Eaton rear. Was told the front gear was a 4.56 but not positive on the rear gear. The truck is in pieces and needs restored. It has a trans and transfer case but I am not sure what they came out of. I thought he said they was Rockwell and out of an older truck but it does not have the divorced TC. I know it looks rough but it does look pretty solid. To me it seems like it has a premium price tag on it but curious as to what you all think of the truck. The truck does have the SPID and emblems on it. Not crazy about the light yellow paint. Would look better in Ochre IMO.

Doesn't really match what you were looking for in your WTB ad, but if you are taking it down to nothing and starting over ... Maybe?

You are right on not matching what I put up. I just came across it and thought it was a unique truck that you don't see a lot of. I have been looking to buy a nice one but I might have to just end up building one.

Agree very rough and would cost a fortune to ANYthing with, but just look at that SPID... :whine: Personally, if I were brave enough to dive in, I'd get it back to 2WD, sell off the unmatched 4WD drivetrain, and have the nicest C30 Cheyenne Super Longhorn with buckets, tach, big block on the planet. Oh wait, it's not a Custom Camper, never mind... ;) (JUST kidding, what a cool piece of truck history - and light yellow will grow on you, like a fungus maybe, but it will grow on you)

That truck has been posted on here before I believe, in the same condition. I would ditch that drivetrain combo for a 465/205. Superhorns are pretty uncommon, if the price was right I would buy it in a heartbeat but I seem to recall the seller wanting stupid money for current condition, are ALL the big parts (interior, body panels, etc) still there or has it been parted out?

That is a rare creature for sure. C30 longhord with factory big block, 4spd, AC, buckets, Posi, toolbox, and tach?!? And a cab that is nice?!?

Fidel’s truck. I think it’s a neat start. Not many clean fully optioned cabs left out there. I would love to see it built as a 1 ton 4x4. Definitely great bones to start with.

Yep it's Fidel's. Cool truck but pricey. If I wouldn't have been hung up on a squarebody K30 the truck I should have bought was the one Burnem had for sale.

The transfer case is a Rockwell T221, they were mated to the transmission for only 1, maybe 2 , years- I'd have to double check. Nothing wrong with it other than maybe parts availability if something did break.

I knew on my old 63 K20 that it had a divorced Rockwell so I wasn't quite sure what it would have been from.

I thought that truck looked familiar, he had it for sale a few months ago. Wish I would have seen it for sale when I was looking a while ago. Killer truck:chevy:

Last I knew it is $10k and the truck is all dismantled. To me, the truck checks all the boxes as far as cream of the crop Longhorn. He's just $5k too high in my mind. Granted, it does have a D60 front. If I remember correctly it has a Chevy D60 too, not a dodge one. But like Tyler said, that trans and tcase is not what I'd want to use. The frame already has a K engine cross member setting in it. Not bolted in. It does have oem 4x4 front spring hangers. He wouldn't send me pics of the shackle so I'm not sure how nice of a job they did on the shackle install. Nothing has been done to the rear suspension yet last I knew for the 4x4 swap.

I was seriously thinking about buying it but he hit me at $12,500 back when I was inquiring about it. The sheet metal looks very nice, and the buckets are there. It's too bad it's torn apart. My plans were to get it, put it back together and clean/poppy's patina the thing and drive it.

As Dieselwrencher said, he is wanting$10k. The truck is in pieces. He said maybe he could throw the doghouse back on and put everything else in the bed. He had the center console but wasn't sure where it was and couldn't promise anything on it. It still has the factory rear end in it. Eaton I believe. Front springs are out of a K5 from what he told me and he thought were 4" lift springs.

X2! It has potential and appeal for a project vehicle, but like so many, it comes down to price.
