Where does the ground cable plug into the instrument cluster on a 74 Chevy C20 pickup? A picture would be helpful. Also, if the instrument light sockets are loose when plugged into the cluster, are shims available to achieve a tighter fit of the socket?

I just slightly bend up the brass contacts on the twist socket with a small screwdriver. The ones for eye glasses work great. Clean them first if they are dirty.
I like to test the bulbs at the same time with some alligator leads connected to the tabs. Easier to do this first before bending them. I have found many bulb that do not light but only require a nudge in the socket to get working again.

IF you have a 7 hole cluster it would be terminal number 7 on the connector which is a Black wire on the end of the plug. It is mapped out in orange on the diagram below.
