dash bezel
I am restoring a '68 without gauges that has manual choke. Have seen lots of new bezels, but none with my combination. Looking for new, or like new piece. Could anybody please help?
|
They make a 69-72 style without the guages but no 67-68 with the choke hole. I don't know why but if I find a nice used I will let you know.
|
Maybe you can just drill a hole in your old one there should be a circle on the back where it goes
|
Thanks to both of you for input, would appreciate it if you do find something. I do have the original bezel, and it is not damaged just worn (chrome is thin). Is it possible to re-chrome instead of replacing? thanks again!

I know Ed @ Mothertruckers did know of a place in Ohio(I think) that did rechrome them.
|
Thanks, I will give him a call.

All the original 67 I have seen are just painted gray It wouldnt cost much to repaint it. There is place here that recromes parts I dont think its cheep it mite cost more then buying a new one I can ask if you want
|
That would be great, or if you have information, I would be more than happy to call myself. I have seen several pictures of the 67's that were painted, and if all else fails, that is what I will do. Really hoping for some chrome, since rest of interior is stock.
Thanks for your help! |
dash bezel
I guess I've never really looked too close, but the LMC catalog does show a non-gauge 69-72 bezel, part #38-8016, and lists the application as 67-72. Someone should really call them on that. I'll check with my guy today and see what he can come up with. I have also heard that there are some outfits out there that can rechrome but heard it is pricey.

there is a place in texas (not in Lone Oak, tx) that did some plastic plating for us - it was an excellent job but super expensive
2 plastic LTI engine wiring covers = 400.00 If you are still interested I can get you thier number Shawn |
Hey! Be careful drilling out the hole if you modify a new bezel. I drilled out the hole marked with a circle on the back on mine for the rear air (Suburban) and it didn't line up with the hole in the dash. Yikes!
Measure twice, cut once, I didn't. |
Thanks for information. Sounds like re-chroming might be alot of money. I might just swich to gauges, which would make a little more work, but I would rather have anyway. Oh well, what is a little more work when you have been looking at a bare frame and a pile of parts for 6 months anyway!

This is the style that you are looking for right? Except you want something in excellent condition with chrome?

I THINK THIS IS IT
only 41 min left when i posted this ....10.00 on ebay http://i14.ebayimg.com/02/i/01/15/be/5a_1.JPG http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eB...tem=2450339451 |
neither one is correct. Mine looks like the one he found on e-bay, only it has wiper and light switch on left and choke on right. I have made arrangements to buy a gauge cluster, found info. to switch wiring in dash harness on another post here, tech tips at GMC Paul's. Now all I need is to find out what I have to change on my harness under the hood. thanks for trying to help though.
