Wire harness opinion
Looking for an opinion on wire harness
American Autowire or Universal kit https://swperformanceparts.com/product/21-premium-9/ substantial cost savings and go |
Re: Wire harness opinion
I would seriously suggest going with a made to fit or manufacture modified to your needs. Such as a LS swap with ac delete hypothetically.
It can turn a nightmare into a single day, and a 6 pack affair. I get it money is not free, but how valuable is your time to you or the project being completed. Now now. Not later later. Unless the truck is going to be down for awhile where a spare hour or two adds up, and you flatly can save enough for something else you really want. Or you want it ran in such a way that universal is ideal. Then I would go universal. |
Re: Wire harness opinion
I used a kit like that one in a '66 Mustang. My biggest complaint was the size of the insulation on the wires was so thick it made it difficult to route them (not as big an issue on a truck) and then where they connected to the turn switch was a pain. If I had a pretty stock truck I would use a stock harness like 'Lectric Limited. If I had to have all the extra circuits I would do an AAW harness. Or if I could find a donor '87 I might use the whole truck harness as it will have pretty much all the circuits you might need for a square body EFI swap (except fans).

AAW was well worth the cost in my opinion.
