Exhaust
Can anyone tell me what exhaust manifolds came stock on a 1972 K-10 with a 350 ? I purchased the center dump ram horn manifolds that exit straight down but when I look for a dual exhaust kit it looks like the pipes are bent for the manifolds that exit on a 45 degree angle.

Re: Exhaust
If I recall, my '71 ram horns do in fact kick back on the driver side, but are mostly vertical on the passenger.
Those aftermarket manifolds are just straight up and down. Which is but one of many reasons I avoided these. Instead, I filed flat the flange, heli-coiled the stud holes, and then blasted and hirsch painted my originals. |

I pulled this one off an internet search. It is a big block, but the small blocks were very similar. Pass side dumps at about a 45 degree angle and looks about like that one on the DS except for the heat riser damper, which by the way will probably be inoperable after 50 years. I prefer the ram horns myself. I will have a custom exhaust bent for mine, and that may not be an option you want to use.

Re: Exhaust
if you want oem exhaust to bolt up.

Re: Exhaust
Assuming K10 is same as K20.... mine (72 K20) with a 350, both sides center dump straight down. Just as mentioned in posts above. OP, it seems the exhaust kit you're looking at is incorrect.

Re: Exhaust
I Have 1972 K10. the exhaust manifolds are center dump that extend straight down, both sides. my truck has single exhaust that terminated on the driver's side just behind the rear fender. my truck is a short bed step side.
The driver's side header pipe drops straight down and bends to the rear along the frame rails. The passenger side drops down bends to the rear then crossed over behind the transmission pan and connects to the drive's side pipe. I have the original pipe. I have not been able to locate the header pipe. I had one made up by a muffler shop but the reproduction was not exact and needs to be modified. I will try to get a picture of the pipe and post it to this site. |

On my 67 2wd , I'm using the 2 1/2" center drop manifolds and they will require a custom exhaust . Using 2 1/2" pipe it will need to be bent like these pipes to clear everything . So you may have to do the same ? 4" radius bend using 2 1/2" pipe :chevy:
