Rear brake bleeder screw
So I recently decided to do some R&R on my rear brakes.
(New center rubber hose, new wheel cylinder, brake shoes and hardware.) Mostly due to me never servicing them since I've had the truck. Its an 1985 Chevy k20 3/4 with 13 inch drum 2.5" brake shoes. Now for the life of me I cannot find the part number for the "Speed Bleeder" for the rear, I have them for the front. I want to eventually replace the front rubber hoses along with the brake calipers along with the MC. There is nothing really wrong with the brake system, but I figured if i have to replace one part and it affects the rest, why not do it all and put it under the "MAW" category Might As Well. I'm hoping some one has switched to the speed bleeders for the rear and has the part # handy. Thanks in advance Memo |
Re: Rear brake bleeder screw
Is this what you are looking for?

Re: Rear brake bleeder screw
Speed Bleeders are one time use for me. I can never get them to work a year later.

Re: Rear brake bleeder screw
Try this tip if there stock or the speed bleeder are sizing. A small dab of Grease or Vaseline on one of your fingers, spared it on to top & nut thread part of the bleeder make sure there is 2mm-4mm thick. Reply about every 6months if to dry or has washed off. Just clean with a clean paper towel before doing adjustment's or work on it.

I'm not sure that GM put them on stuff in the 70's & 80's my vehicles never had them when I got them. I picked up bleeder caps off the German vehicles, mostly VW, in the salvage yards and put them on my American iron back then. The bugs, hippie vans, fastbacks, Rabbits, etc all usually had them. The ATE caps that look like this seem to put up with the environment better than some others. Attachment 2180585 |
