03 Sierra Console Options
Hey guys!
I've got an '03 Sierra, with the work/fleet no frills trim, and I'd like to replace the non folding center seat with a console, and I'm looking for options. Found one with the sub for ~$100, but not sure it will fit, in a standard cab, since the rear vents stick out. https://i.imgur.com/h50kU5ll.jpg?1 Thoughts? |
Re: 03 Sierra Console Options
You might want to look at the AZ3 option 2007-2012ish T900 3 cup jump seats. They'll bolt right in and they have two storage bins. One in the top and one under the seat cushion. The seat cushion bin locks with a Circle Plus GM key.
This is post #5 from my build thread with pictures of my install. You have to take out both front seats but other than that it's not a big deal. https://67-72chevytrucks.com/vboard/...27&postcount=5 |

Maybe if i found a complete set, as i could use a new drivers seat... I ended up grabbing that console, and it cleaned up nicely. he included the required dash panels, but i realized later, that he didn't have the front bracket http://i.imgur.com/fC14Vatl.jpg People on ebay want $90+ for it, so i guess i need to hit the yards this weekend. |
Re: 03 Sierra Console Options
Good excuse to upgrade to the next trim level cloth. ;):lol:
In all seriousness sounds like you got what you want and that's what's important. Make sure you get the heater ducts to direct air to the footwells. IIRC there's a plastic doohicky that slips over the non-console standard duct to direct the front heater air flow to the right and left and not under the console. If you want to see some scary stuff look that bracket up on GM Parts. |

Re: 03 Sierra Console Options
You can 100% put the center console in a regular cab truck, my brother did in his, looks and works great. You will need both the glove box and drivers side knee bolster trim as they are different and butt up to the center console. You'll also probably want a set of seats from a truck with a console as well as they have a fold down arm rest. We got lucky and found a great clean complete set in a truck at the junk yard for cheap.
*edit* I should of read your whole post before replying, whops! But definitely look for a set of seats at the yard this weekend, you might be surprised. |

I have the LT trim level cloth seats without armrests and I've never seen the cloth seats with them to be able to touch them. Just pictures. The LS & LT cloth velour seats are a lot nicer than the base model seats if you can find a pair. More padding and nicer cloth covers in the mid trim level seats but they don't wear as well as the base model cloth. There's at least two different geometric dyed velour patterns on the mid trim level cloth. Base Model Cloth in the WT package trucks. Very wear resistant fabric and manual seat controls so very able to put up with rough treatment. Not as comfy as the LS & LT seats tho. Might be worth trying mid trim level butt foam with this cover and keep the seats you have. Attachment 2187089 LT Cloth Note the larger multi-colored triangles on the centre insert fabric. Attachment 2187088 LS cloth with console & armrests. Note the much smaller dot pattern in the centre insert velour. I picked up one of this pattern seat without armrests. Had more mileage than mine but I bought it to get the working seat motors. The gears in my seat base were stripped. The seat belt on the donor seat was chewed up on the edges and a fair amount of crud in the velour so I got it cheap. I swapped in new butt foam & drivers butt upholstery that matched my original interior along with my original belts with my original seat back onto the donor base. Attachment 2187087 |
Re: 03 Sierra Console Options
My 07 classic has the cloth seats with the arm rests and center console as well as the one we found in the yard my brother scored seats from. Mine are power drivers front to back, but recline is manual.

Of course now that I've said that I won't be able to find regular seats ever again.:lol: |
Re: 03 Sierra Console Options
good info guys!
i got the bracket i needed at the yard, which was super difficult, considering every vehicle with a console, had power seats, which makes removing the console fun! Figured out a trick, so i may go back and snag the rest of em.. Bracket at the yard $3, throw em on ebay for profit? would be easy to undercut the current offerings at $99. lol I also looked at seats, but there was nothing worth saving. I did see a couple with the fold down armrests. One was leather, two where cloth, and that kind of interested me... Fun fact, all 3 of them were in Yukons. not sure if that means anything. Honestly i don't want power seats. they're kind of pointless in a standard cab truck, since there's really only one possible seating position, all the way back. That being said, lumbar adjustment would be nice... |
Re: 03 Sierra Console Options
one thing i noticed, is that many of the suburbans didn't have vents on the rear of the console.
i tried to grab one of those rear pieces, but none of them were in my color. adding that to my "want" list, since it's easy to swap out, without removing the console. I know it's dumb, but details like that bug me. |

had leather seats in my Durango, and hated everything about them. were super cold in the winter, and would get slimy from sweat in the summer... |
Re: 03 Sierra Console Options
If all three seat motors still work properly then the seat tracks are still worth something even if the upholstery is pooched.
You can use salvage yard RH seat butt foam since you don't have electric seat switches. Usually the RH seat is in better shape. The other option is TheSeatShop Durofoam but it costs around $130. The fabric is fairly easy to come by on eBay. Search eBay 2003 WT Gray Cloth Seat Cover |
Re: 03 Sierra Console Options
Last night i designed and printed an insert to replace the rear radio module
http://i.imgur.com/GEdIDJzl.jpg Printed it with lowest quality, to minimize print time... needs a little tweaking, but is pretty close http://i.imgur.com/sGbqkbNl.jpg need to adjust the radius on the corners. |
Re: 03 Sierra Console Options
There's a GM part# that goes there on trucks with out the rear seat entertainment, I put one in my old crew cab when I changed radios and my extended cab has it OE.
Apparently it's been discontinued, I remember buying one for like 20 bucks from GM for my crew cab. They're in the junk yards, I've seen them, wish I snagged the one I saw last time I was there, people seem to ask dumb money for them on eBay https://www.gmfullsize.com/threads/w...verado.306892/ https://www.ebay.com/itm/333884503027 |

I decided to go this route, because it doesn't cost me anything, and also gives me a flat surface to work with, for additional power ports, switches, or whatever i can dream up in the future. Version 2 is about perfect. has a nice friction fit. http://i.imgur.com/45PSm6zl.jpg http://i.imgur.com/14Bdzkyl.jpg At some point, i'll reprint it in ABS |
