1972 door panel insert wood grain question...

I have the 72 wood grain inserts and I know I have seen alum ones but can't find any pics now, are the alum ones the same with just the wood grain removed?

What is the best way to remove the wood grain without damaging the alum underneath?

The woodgrain is painted on

This stuff will strip it off
