Holley twin barrel carb - rebuild?

2 Attachment(s)
I've been cleaning up various aspect of my 1953 5-window before I attempt to start its long dormant engine (close to ten years). I've drained and changed the oil and spin-on oil filter, sent the radiator out for cleaning, testing and painting, installed a new water pump and timing cover, crank seal, and gasket, removed the spark plugs - bore scoped the cylinders, and shot a teaspoon full of Marvel Mystery oil into each cylinder, cranked the engine manually a few times, removed the cab fuel tank and rubber and hard fuel lines, and have looked at the carb since it is fed air via a McCulloch supercharger.

Under the aluminum cap over the carb, I found a two barrel Holley 2300 carb. Given the condition of the rubber fuel lines feeding the mechanical fuel pump, I'm wondering about the condition of the internals of this carb. Has anyone ever rebuilt one of these? Aware of any shops in the Dallas area that can knowledgeably rebuild one?

Here is a pic or two-

That’s not a Holley 2300 carb.
Appears to be a stromberg ww.
Like in here.

Mikes will have carb kits and might rebuild yours too.

Positively not a Holley 2300. I'm with Geezer#99, that's a Stromberg WW 2 barrel that could have come off one of a variety of rigs and they were run on GMC trucks.

This is a Holley 2300 which is just the front half of a Holley Four barrel.

This Ebay add has a Stromberg WW that is actually for a GMC https://www.ebay.com/itm/17504487365...yABEgK2cvD_BwE

They put those carbs on a ton of cars and trucks over the years and they are a pretty good carb that is usually easy to rebuild.

The brighter light just came on and I'd just about bet that is the carb off a Studebaker Golden Hawk that ran a McCulloch supercharger. and research says it blew though a Stromberg WW carb. My guess is that someone robbed the blower and carb off a Studebaker.

Link to the carb for a Golden Hawk on Ebay with carb numbers. https://www.ebay.com/itm/393496048961

That’s exactly what got my brain cells churning!
I remembered a stude with a Paxton on it 60 years ago with a carb like that.
And I had a ww on an old mopar.
Interesting how the mix screws are adjusted and sealed off.
Might need to look into the seals on them too.

There is no doubt some detailed information around on the 57/58 Golden Hawk carbs if that is indeed what that carb is and all trails lead to that.

This is a tiny photo but it shows the air plenum and carb off a Golden Hawk.

Wow great information, thank you. I said a Holley 2300 because I found a receipt for one in my stack of receipts that came with my jig saw puzzle of a truck. But this photo is 100% accurate to what I have on the 261 engine. More research to be done............ Thanks again.

Of course you guys were correct that this wasn't a Holley 2300 after all. If I had looked at the back of the carb more closely, I would have realized that too. My only defense was that I had a receipt amongst the late owners papers that indicated that he purchased a Holley 2300, where its located is unknown.

With you help and these photos, I've learned that the carb is a Stromberg WW model 6-123A, which research indicates having come off of a Studabaker. A quick stop at Mike's Carburetor store (online) and I have the rebuilt parts on the way.

Wise move ordering from Mikes. I've bought a couple of kits from them and was real happy with them.
