Replacing original leaf springs, front and rear, re-arch or brand new ?

Original 1985 short bed 4X4

Probably not a fan of re-arching but thought I’d ask. I’d have to send them far away so shipping costs have to be factored in.

New, made in America springs will be the way I go, I think.
Eaton, Detroit Spring, ATS, Michigan truck spring are just a few. Anyone have a preference? Bought from any of these company’s? Or someone else maybe?

Thanks for the info….

I've been considering a set for my upcoming travelall build, the rears I've have are fine, the fronts have given out and are in sad shape..
When I started looking at getting them rearched, I heard from more than one that it was a waste of time..it wouldnt be long before they would be back like they are now..
Eaton was recommended to me as the go to for new springs..

Will be interested to see what others say

I've used Eaton a few times with great results.

Pay for it twice - once to re-arch, then to do it right, and it will seem cheap .

Actually I was most surprised at the shipping, we can thank high fuel prices ….

So….went ahead and ordered a set of (Eaton) what I thought were factory replacement front springs, they may very well be factory replacements but they sure don’t look like it. I’ll know more once they are installed. Thats not the biggest issue, I paid 190 bucks for shipping and they arrived naked, no box no nothing for 190 bucks??? By the time they arrived they looked used from all the scratches and nicks. After all they are only springs and they go under the truck where they will receive their fair share of scrapes but damn you’d think when you pay a premium price for a product, you’d think it would come looking new….especially after paying a $190 shipping bill. The last product I’ll order from Eaton…

Rant over

My alcan springs showed up the same way. Just 2 naked springs laying on the sidewalk. They actually looked worse but mostly due to the horrible paint job. Globs and clumps of paint, looked like they were dunked in lumpy paint.

My custom springs for my 85 from Chariot and also a set of Deaver springs for my 72 I got do not look much different. Even the made to spec Deavers I drove down to pick up are also the same (over $800). In use the metal moves and paint will come off anyway. Springs are shipped loose or on a pallet. Either way they get banged up. A little Krylon or Rustoleom and all is good. Not a worry for me.
