I have not run them, but I have run the old Bias Ground Hawgs. I wouldn't give you a nickel for a new set. Obnoxiously loud, wear funny, hard to balance, flat spot and thump until warm, etc. Mickey Thomposons or Dick Cepek Fun Country's are the best bias tires for the street, but I run BFG radial MTs now and wouldn't change back for anything! They are virtually silent (compared to the Mickeys the replaced at least...)They didn't take much weight to balance, they drive awesome considering their size. And they throw rocks the size of softballs! Excellent traction in mud and rocks. Can buy locally as well so you don't get boned for shipping but you do pay tax.

I have super swamper TSL bias plys. I havent run ground hawgs but i have heard they are very loud but wear like iron.
All bigger mud tires have flat spots until they warm up. I wasn't able to get mine perfectly balanced but being bias ply they wear very fast. plus mine are only 33" but the bigger tires cause more vibrations and tend to shake things loose and wear u joints quickly.
If you plan on doing alot of street driving I wouldn't reccomend using hawgs or swampers. At least get radials like you said.

I've got a set of Swamper radials. Yes their loud but they are wearing pretty good and on the road they handle pretty good. My buddy has a set of the new Swamper radial and he loves them. Much quieter and wear longer but not near as aggressive as mine. Had a set of Bias ply Swampers and they were awesome in the mud but horrible on the street.

A friend of mine had the ground hawg bias on his jeep rock crawler. He said they have great traction in the rocks, but on flat ground it drives like a tractor, and howls like one too. He's getting rid of them and going with cepek radials next time he needs tires.

Not much better than the bias plys as far as wear just as noisy but ride a bit better IMO, they also run small as far as sizing goes and the balancing was not any better than the bias plys but you cant beat Hawgs for the mud. The swamper SSR radials are nice and pretty quiet but not real good in the ice and snow I am told. The recent tire of choice by my brother, who goes through more tires than anybody I know is the Wrangler MTR. Claims it is the best all around tire he as ever had on a 4wd. I was impressed on our last outing, will definitly seriously conside the MTR's myself. Good luck tire shopping.
