Exterior Colors - Opinion Pole
I am getting ready to redo an '86 C10 Step Side. We are going to paint it a simple color (non-metallic). Trying to choose a color that will sell that is not RED or BLACK. Choices are:
Code 12 White Code 23 Medium Blue (sometimes called Hawaiian Blue) Code 29 Dark Blue Code 60 Tan |

For the hardcore enthusiast, and I think you already know this, but the original colors are the most enticing, and saves you the painting of the dash and the jambs. But since that is not what you have asked: from the colors you have listed I think that squarebodies always look good and clean in white. For some reason it really works on this body style. Truth be told though, you will probably catch more people's eye with the Hawaiian blue. And on the other side of things, I think the tan is an acquired taste. I have one, and I like it. But I don't know that it appeals to the gen pop.

Karl, excited to see any build thread or pics as you go along?? hint...hint...
my color choices would be either the white or the med blue. I have always liked white & I think it is a "rare" color too. second choice is the med blue, I really like "factory guy" truck colors. good luck & please keep us posted... |

Just based on watching about 900,000 of them go by my desk: A lot of Dark blue (particularly with steel gray inset) on high end vehicles A lot of white (lots of utility and base model vehicles) Not many Hawaiian blue A lot of tan - particularly base models (I think if you did not specify a color the tan was the standard color. I'm serious). So - to choose a color that will sell: Dark Blue, which is somewhat elegant and high end. Hawaiian Blue - which would "pop". Not white. Not tan. K |

Whatever the Red Dawn truck was! Medium Blue I guess. Nice looking color....similar color to the blue in the Ukrainian flag. And there's lots of "Wolverines!" graffitied on knocked out Russian tanks these days..
All stupid logic and connections I know. I've just always loved that color....and the movie. |

I know it is not a square body , but the 100th anniversary truck that Chevy did was a nice color.

Doeskin Tan looks sharp when it's fresh. And it stands out being less common (solid color). It was also one of the truck fleet colors. Looks great with black, white, chrome, silver. It's a good utility look for the Stepside. It was mostly used for 2-tone but solid color looks great. I wish I had a picture of the Jimmy with stock steel wheels and hubcaps. I included a better looking truck.
