1985 454 swap

Swapped to 454 in my 85 Scottsdale..now need California emission components.. anyone versed in what is needed? I was told that i should be looking for emission parts from a gas dually since the mainly run 454. Is this correct? Truck had 5.7 previously, but neighbor had a 85 motorhome that he had parked on side of his house and used as spare space when he had guests and it only had 15k miles on it. I was able to get his engine when mine threw a rod. Any help would be greatly appreciated

Parts from the correct era dually gas engine sounds like the best source to start but their emissions parts requirements would likely not be the same as that for the lighter duty trucks.

To start, you'll need to ID what all parts were included in a '50-state emissions certified' big-block equipped 1/2 ton truck for the GVW of the truck you wish to certify.

I don't know of any 1985 1/2 ton, big-block, 50-State certified packages. A 1-ton duallys (>8600lbs) requirements may not be acceptable as the GVW will be much higher.

I would search info on lower weight 1985 3/4 ton packages (<7200lbs).
