Aftermarket Air Conditioning

I just finished an ls swap in my ‘71 non-ac blazer. How good are the aftermarket a/c’s in the blazer? Im been looking at the Vintage Air and Old Air systems. Looking for any opinions and first hand knowledge of what you guys are running and how well it cools in the blazing heat. I’m in Texas where it gets HOT in the summer.

Thanks,

Alex

I don't have AC in my 72 K5 but may add it down the road. I have an LSx swap in progress...

I would go with Vintage Air for a stock truck or Restomod Air on something with a custom interior... Also, try to spec something for a Suburban. They may have designed larger components to accommodate a larger vehicle were K5 owners would need to compensate for convertible...

Talk to Matt or Kim at MCBPARTS.com
They are a TOP5 Vintage Air dealer, have great customer service too... I've bought a bunch of other stuff from them over the years.

I put an aftermarket system (old air) in my Blazer and it was a total waste of time mainly due to the fact I only have a Softopper. Maybe is you are using the factory hardtop it will have a chance to keep you cool, but if you're not, don't waste your money.

Hard to cool a Blazer. Too much cab space.
