Front drum question
I'm no stranger to drum brakes but the front drums on my 66 c10 has introduced me to a possible problem. The drums are riveted to the hubs and to put new drums on I had to cut the three of them and pound them out. What's the acceptable method to replace them or are they even necessary?

Re: Front drum question
No need to replace the rivets on the front drums. Your truck must be a pretty original unit since they were still riveted in place. I bet the upper ball joints still have the factory rivets as well

Re: Front drum question
^Yup. OP, how many miles on that truck? I've seen carefully driven vehicle make it 80k miles before needing brakes. I had a '64 Impala convertible that I drove pretty hard, and those brakes made it 40k miles before needing new shoes.
