hauling a cab

hi i am hauling a cab today. what should i set it on? chris :burnout:

Gee_Emm 01-03-2004 12:56 AM

old tires work good for that kinda thing, or make a block set up out of some wood

krazy_texan 01-03-2004 12:57 AM

i would just set it on your trailer and strap it down really good and you should be good to go.

I hauled mine on a trailer on it's back using only scrap lumber to protect it from damage, cab needed paint anyway. Tie it down with cargo straps as krazy-texan says.

yep i put mine in a trailer with some wood blocks under the cab supports. if it still has all the stuff in the front like heater box or a/c...what ever, it will tend to be really nose heavy, so keep an eye on that if thats the case.

Is it a finished cab? If you haven't done anything to it yet, just toss it in the bed of your truck. Won't even need any straps either.

"Toss" it in the back? I have been trying to figure out a good way to haul my cab, too.

I have to haul it 20 miles to get it painted, then another 20 back again to put it on the frame. It is extremely heavy in the front. Is there some way I can make something that I can use to roll it over gravel with? Something that is like $20 or less.

So far, the only ideas we have are to use a heavy-duty home built swingset to hoist the cab up, back the trailer under, and lower the cab. But then how do I get the cab off in the new location? Arg....

3 guys can move a cab no problem...even better with 4 guys.
if you are ready for paint, don't "toss it in the bed".

off to get it now. thanks everybody. chris
