I am going to sell my car in the spring to buy a '98 or newer S10 pickup. I need something with good gas milage to commute to college and back everyday, and I also need something that I can haul my dirtbike with.

This is a 1984 Chevy Caprice Classic. It has 95,000 original miles. A/C, power steering, power brakes, power locks, tilt, cruise, Sony head unit, 305 V8, new tires, new battery, all receipts since new.

What do you guys think it's worth?

$3000 tops.

Looking at your name, I was hoping to see a Caprice with 22 inch wheels.

That's the same size my fire truck has on it.

dinnut 01-03-2004 05:26 PM

im thinking about 3000... thats a very clean car you got there!

tx firefighter... thats hilarious

Chevelle454 01-03-2004 05:35 PM

Yeah...um....the 22's are in the shed...lol

GMC1967 01-03-2004 05:36 PM

around $2000-2500 b/c of mileage, those cars seem to come up quite often

Chevelle454 01-03-2004 05:49 PM

It gets 14 city mpg and 24 highway mpg with the Q-jet, only if you drive like an old lady.

Drop me an email when you figure out what you would like for it. I am looking for that kind of car.

You could get some old dude to buy it for 2000 or so dollar's????

Tx Firefighter 01-03-2004 09:37 PM

sell them 22 inch wheels for a couple of grand and buy yourself an S10 with the money. Then, you have 2 vehicles.

BTW, I had a 99 S10 with the 2.2L engine 5 speed trans. It was supposed to get between 22 and 29 MPG. It never got over 21 MPG ever, no matter how I drove it. I drive 80 miles everyday on the freeway roundtrip to work with the cruise control on. Still, 21 MPG. This was a 2WD regular cab short bed too.

I sure don't miss that truck at all.

Hmmm....maybe should buy a Geo Metro and stick my built 350 into this Caprice! That would be a sweet sleeper.... Unless I paint it Pearl White, put on American racing or Weld rims, Mickey Thompson drag slicks, 4" rear lift, custom grill, tint...the list goes on....

djracer 01-03-2004 11:13 PM

I'd say 2000-2500!

Don't buy a s10 they have horrible resale and they get sh!tty gas mileage! A 4.3 is as bad as a v8 fullsize!

67cst 01-03-2004 11:26 PM

my sister just sold hers, we had it since new, exact same scenario as you but had a hella lot of miles..somewhere around 300,000...ran like a charm though and was solid bodywise, we got 500 for it from the first call then after about 40 calls we realized we couldve got double that
