73-80 body molding
I have a 78 K20 that I want to add the side body moldings and tailgate molding to. Does anyone here have experience with adding the molding and NOT drilling holes? If so what method / clips / double sided tape did you use? I really don't want to drill holes if I can get around it.

Re: 73-80 body molding
I used 3M body molding tape on my '74.
https://www.3m.com/3M/en_US/p/d/v000056294/ Its held up for close to 20 years, hot/cold, car washes, etc. |

So, if you wanted to just go with the tape clips, I recommend you splurge on the molding kit from Mar-K, which is supposedly really good. Or stick with the OEM molding. Oh, and the kit comes with the taped clips. Of which removing the crappy tape they use off of each clip is really fun. Not. |
Re: 73-80 body molding
The custom trim in 1978 had vinyl molding with tape backing. I've found it to peal paint and rust behind the molding.

No issues with the 3M molding tape, even using OEM and reproduction trim pieces on mine. I prepped the area on the body and the trim with rubbing alcohol first and again its been stuck there since 2005.
