PTO for a 208

I have a 76 4x4. I want to trade the th350/203 for a 700r4/208. I would also like to have it run a PTO . Is it possible to run a PTO from a 208? If so how? If not what would be a good alternative?

Not to be cute, but I'm not sure a 208 could be considered an "Upgrade".
A 205 would be better, and there has been a 205 PTO floating on and off ebay for a while.

There is a 700r4 / 205 combo on ebay right now, but its gonna go high!

I guess this was never a factory combo and very hard to come by. You can put one together with Advanced Adaptors stuff, but it isn't cheap.

Personnally, I would go for a 1985 and newer t400 and 205. I have heard too many horror stories about 700r4 rebuilds at 1200 to 1800 bucks and they still don't work. With a 400, you don't get OD, but forward has allways been a good thing.

i dont think PTO is available for np208...in the army CUCV trucks, the ones specifically called for to have PTO had the np205, the rest had the np208.

The NP208 (and all of the later aluminum chain drive cases - NP241 etc.) has no provision for PTO.

Thanks for the info. The 205 was my first choice, but I haven't been able to locate one locally except for lots of Fords and Dodges. As I understand it they won't bolt up. As you said they are pricey when you do find one. So I guess I'll keep looking.
