67-72 factory tach

I want to buy a factory style tachometer for my sons 70 1 ton for a Christmas present. I have been on line and saw several repop tach's. The one's I saw was the tach with no rpm numbers shown on the face. What's the deal? Is a lens with the numbers needed also? Thanks

Yes, you need the special lens and both the front and rear tin pieces, and the tach wire loom. There is a member on here that will punch your metal pieces or you can buy them from most parts vendors....

Oh yes, you will also need the tach printed circuit board. It is different also.

OP, I was in the same boat. 72 with "gauge option" but no tach. I just bought a column mounted one vs digging into the stock gauge cluster for board, lens and wire swap

Yeah I used one of those swap kits in my truck over the summer. Had it in all installed in a day. Went pretty smooth. I bought mine through Brothers.

I used the same kit. Very easy to do if you take your time. Wiggling the cluster out was not too bad with the steering wheel off. The added depth of the cluster with the tach makes things a bit more of an effort. It will fit just don't force anything. Depending on the condition of the other gauges, now is the time to clean and relamp as well. Also, find some gauge needle paint. The new tach will make the older gauges look faded. I should have stopped and ordered some paint. Now I look at the cluster and all I see is a bright needle on the tach and faded remaining.

I have been a supporter of the site in the past. I was just asking a question wasn’t trying to sell anything at all I was asking. I’m not trying to be rude but is there a problem with that I’m asking in all honesty. Thank you 🙏🏻
