62 steering column

Quick question.
Is the 63 steering column the same or close to the same as the 62?

I am looking to tear mine down to paint it and want to go through it and replace any needed parts while i am at it.

I found this

https://lugnutz65chevystepside.weebl...n-rebuild.html

Does anyone have details besides the service manuals for this?
I do have the service manual, just looking for other sources.

Suggestions on what should be changed also would be appreciated. Bearing and coupler for sure, anything else?

Thank you

Re: 62 steering column

The 60-62 columns use a separate intermediate shaft from the steering gear to the bottom of the column near the firewall. The 63 to 66 columns use a single, solid shaft from steering gear to wheel.

That isn't the only difference either. There's some differences in turn signal parts and some other small differences. Lugnutz's guide for the 63 might still be helpful in the general process.

If your turn signal switch still works, but the cancelling cam is broken, I would just replace the cancelling cam and continue using the original switch. That's what I did on my 63
