Grinding window motor... x2
Left window motor in my 84 c10 started to stop and grind halfway up. I have replaced many of these window motors for this same issue over the years and it fixed every one, until now.
I finished putting in the new motor, checking the rollers, and cleaning/greasing the roller channels. The new motor does the exact same thing. Anyone run into this before? New motor bad? Get a new regulator? Thanks for any replies. |
Re: Grinding window motor... x2
welcome hevy, glad to see another arizonian..LOL. I just cleaned the mech. on my power windows a few weeks ago for my build. basically the same thing was happening on my pwr windows as well. I cleaned everything up & reinstalled. so far everything appears to be working - although in general the motors are pretty slow to begin with. I wonder if maybe the felt track(?) is mis-aligned or "bent"?? also maybe check the plastic wheel channels to make sure no debris got in there during replacement?
good luck! |
Re: Grinding window motor... x2
Hey Rod,
Yeah I checked all that stuff... I don't get it. I bought one of the window relay kits so when I find the time to install it maybe it will help this also. I'm leaning towards the new motor being bad but don't know yet. I'm in your neck of the woods in Gilbert btw. |
Re: Grinding window motor... x2
hevy, nice... I am hoping to go to the C10Club meet this weekend.. we'll see. yea, I used to think that if the part was new that it would not be a place to look... BUT now after last few misc. part orders I have realized that just because it is a new part/piece DOES NOT mean that it could not be bad... aarrgg. I checked out LMC vids (with Kevin Tetz) when i was working on my windows. BTW I am roughly 3 mi "do south" of the new "temple"... LOL!
